Our Services

Our dental office is a general dentistry office. This means a diverse selection of services are available. While Dr. Jenkins has received training in many areas of dentistry there are situations where the service may be better performed by a specialist. In all situations the determining factor is what is best for the patient!

If you wish to search information on any particular dental therapies, you may wish to search through the informational videos whose links are at the upper left of each of the pages on this web site. If you have additional questions when you come in for an appointment those questions can be discussed in person. It is important that each patient understand what their possibilities for dental treatment is and about what is actually being done for them.

Your needs may be as simple as a check up or as involved as TMJ pain treatment or full mouth reconstruction. Whatever your situation requires we can help.

Dr. Jenkins has cared for people as young as 3 weeks and as old as 101. His extensive training has taken him through the clinical training courses at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute where the dentists are trained on real people, not plastic models like other facilities.  His training there in the Neuromuscular treatment of TMD, (Temporomandibular Dysfunction), or commonly known as TMJ pain has allowed him to provide pain relief for his TMJ/TMD patients. This Neuromuscular technique also allows reconstruction procedures to be aligned properly with the muscles of chewing in a relaxed and balanced position. This provides better longevity for crowns and veneers.

Dr. Jenkins is also a big believer in prevention. He feels it certainly is better to prevent a problem than to have to fix it. His experienced, board licensed, dental hygienists are trained in the use of the dental diode laser for use in cleanings to eliminate the bacteria and embeded biofilm below the gums. This is done with every cleaning and helps to reduce the amount of plaque formed between cleanings. Thus, it makes the subsequent cleanings easier for you! Many of our patients say they notice that with the reduction of bacteria during the cleaning, their gums are not sore afterward from the micro-infection of the bacteria in the plaque being injected into their gums and blood stream.

Fluoride varnish is applied for fluoride treatments. The fluoride varnish is a coating spread over the teeth that makes the tooth surface less soluble to the acids produced by the cavity making bacteria. This fluoride varnish is available for adults as well as children. Many adults start having the soft root surfaces exposed and the fluoride helps prevent the root cavities that many adults start to get - along with the root sensitivity.

Tooth colored fillings and other restorations are available. If the cavity is small enough, a conservative filling is preferred. If the cavity is a little bigger, it might require an inlay or onlay to properly restore the tooth. One of the considerations is that filling materials are not designed to take the biting loads of chewing that the harder inlay, onlay, or crown materials are. In fact, when fillings are placed, the standard is to remove enough of the filling so that when a person bites on that tooth, they bite on the tooth part, but not the filling part! However, with inlays, onlays, and crowns the biting force can be spread around the tooth surface just like a natural tooth. This helps the restoration, and the tooth to last longer wthout further repair work. You can learn more about these restorations by watching the videos on the dental health guide link at the top of the page.

Dental lasers can also be used for removing cavities so the tooth can be filled. One advantage of the dental laser for this procedure is that most of the time there is no need for the tooth to be numbed or anesthetized. This is because the pulse of the laser is so brief that the body does not register it with the brain. The dental laser can not be used on metal, so if there is an old mercury-silver filling or a metal crown on the tooth, the laser can not be used in that situation. We have many chidren in our practice who over the last 6 years we have had to fill many teeth. However, these children have never had to have their teeth numbed up. This avoids the potential of their biting their lips, tongues, or cheeks when numb and finding out how much it hurts when the feeling comes back.
